The Aru Padai veedu Murugan Temple is located in Kalakshetra Colony in Besant Nagar, Chennai and is dedicated to Lord Muruga. In the past, when the sage Kanchi Paramacharya was camping at Gulbarga, Dr. Alagappa Alagappan went to visit him. He asked the sage if one temple housing all six abode temples of God Muruga could be built in one place in granite. The sage asked him to build the temple and arranged for an acre of land at Besant Nagar in Chennai near the sea. This temple complex, a granite structure was built in Chennai with the sole purpose of awarding the devotees an opportunity to worship all six Murugas in one shrine.
